Ludlow CLP are proud to support our member Tarlochen Singh-Mohr, who is standing for election to Broseley Town Council on Thursday 7 September.
Tarlochen lives in the East Ward of Broseley and says: “I believe in a strong, structured and just society. I will defend services in the town, and support grassroots community work and projects.”

Tarlochen moved to Coalport Road, Broseley with his family around three years ago. His son attends William Brookes School. He is a college lecturer teaching photography, film making and Media to degree level. He's still studying part time doing a PhD in Social Sciences. Tarlochen's grandfather came from India to the UK in the early 1960s. He and Tarlochen's father worked hard in Black Country foundries.

Tarlochen says: "Their work ethic inspires my working life. I am a strong believer in grassroots community work, and support local projects and businesses in Broseley. I am member of the Royal British Legion and believe in a strong, structured and just society.
I live in the East Ward of Broseley and this is an opportunity for me to represent my ward. If I am elected, I will work hard to ensure that the amenities enjoyed by Broseley residents are maintained and improved, despite the challenges posed by reduced funding from Shropshire Council.
I am also keen to ensure that future development meets local needs without damaging the town’s unique character or its services."

It's no secret that Tories outspend Labour at election time, anyone remember the alleged 2015 Tory election fraud scandal (cough, cough)? Still under investigation and it shows that they're spending right up to spending limits and possibly beyond, who knows?

Elections are an expensive business and in line with national trends we get outspent locally too, by quite a significant margin. We don't have 2017 figures yet but as an example, in the Ludlow constituency at the 2015 general election Tories spent just over £31,000 while Labour spent around £3,000.

Can you help us undo this enormous disparity? We rely on donations to fund our campaigning. This year we were still campaigning for local elections when the snap general election was announced, so as you can imagine our bank account has taken quite a hammering.

Theresa May has lost her mandate to govern and her desperate coalition with the DUP is looking increasingly unstable as time goes on. We need to be ready to fight another election at very short notice! To be clear, another general election could happen at any time, so we urgently need to be prepared and have funding in place as soon as possible!
We may not have as many wealthy donors as the Tories but what we do have is a huge membership. Labour membership is over 550,000, with another boost since the general election, almost four times as many members as the Tory party. At a local level we also have a fantastic, enthused and active membership. If members and supporters donated a small amount each we'd be in a great position to pay for campaign leaflets, postal campaigns, and pay for social media ads to get our message out across the constituency.

Please consider making a small donation today, or a small regular donation to help us fight for a fairer Britain that works for all!
